ONE TO WATCH – Hot Locations Worth Your Attention

Rio Real will sound familiar to those who thrash around the green stuff chasing balls and whacking them, hopefully, forwards.  For most golfers, Rio Real is the epitome of the traditional Marbella course.  Forget the Marbella golf triangle, Rio and Torrequebrada were the OG golf courses, built in the 1960’s. From my own perspective, the course and surrounding area has a feeling of, old Hollywood, there’s something special about Rio and we love it.  

Not only is Rio home to a great golf course, but it’s also unusual in that it’s very close to the beach, sea views are aplenty, the properties are built up high and surround the golf course which nests below.  Additionally, the whole area has a national park / reserve type of feel and optic.  A one off.  Special.

The golf course was designed by the legendary Javier Arana, considered to be the best Spanish designer of all time. Located in the most prestigious area of Marbella, just 5 minutes from the town centre, this golf course opened in 1965. The course runs alongside the Rio Real River, from which it takes its name.  

 

The clubhouse is very colonial, it really is exclusive in the way this property will make you feel.  Our top tip, is when you are close by or on your way to and from Marbella, drop in.  Do not be put off by the security gate and fleet of high-end luxury limousines parked outside. You will be welcomed, and you will see for yourself what repeat visitors and homeowners see.  

 

However, it’s not all about the golf.   This location is top-notch.  Minutes to Marbella, a walk to the beach, endless shopping at La Canada amongst other retail locations (Puerto Banus, Marbella, El Corte Ingles in PB is well stocked), and more top-end restaurants than you could imagine.    Plus, beach clubs, yadda, yadda.  

 

   

 

No need to take our word for it.  Over the last few years, some sizeable investments have been made and are underway to update and upgrade the area, here’s the 101 of what’s shaking in Rio Real. 

 

  • The INCOSOL building is being fully renovated into a 5 Star Hotel and Resort.  This Iconic Marbella building will provide 180 Bedrooms and several high-end hotel facilities including a good-sized focus on Health and wellbeing.  It is forecasted to open in 2025.  

 

  • The very slick and swish LA CORNISA new build development has broken ground on its way to build 16 Luxury Apartments, yes you read right, sixteen of the nicest apartments very close to the beach in a style that is very modern, and very daring.  This development is expected to be completed in late 2024 and there are a few, very few properties available as of today.  

 

  • The Kimpton hotel chain is opening its Flagship 5-star LOS MONTEROS hotel in Rio Real.  Planned to open in late 2023, or early 2024 this 178-luxury bedroom development is planned to be the best of the best with business, wedding, conference, event, spa, tennis, fitness, and much, much more.  When the Kimpton hotel chain comes to town, you take notice.  

 

  • Last, but certainly not least is, big drum roll folks, only the FOUR SEASONS 5 Star Hotel and Resort.  The Four Seasons will provide a full-on beachfront club, restaurant, and beachside day activity set-up plus all the amenities you would imagine from the very best in hotel hospitality all wrapped up in the national forest, stunning golf, and sea view surroundings.   

 

All in all, over and above, upwards of €1.5Billion planned investment into this small, niche, and oh-so-desirable area.  This is the area you buy into now and reap the rewards of allowing others to develop an area of Marbella in no other way seen before now.  A Rated folks.  Call to discuss what properties are available.
